Columbus Day ... from the mouths of babes

On my mommy board someone asked what the kids were told in school about Columbus Day. I asked Justin tonight at dinner. What a hoot!

Me:
Justin, what did you learn at school about Columbus?

Justin: (all proud of himself!)
He ruled the seas for a hundred years...on 3 boats....

Mick:
Do you know the name of the boats?

Justin:
Mrs Chmiel told us but we don't remember. (And, yes, he said We. lol).....
Captain Columbus ....
he was tried to....
he tried to go....
go to India and then his dream came true ...
LAND!...
and he was the first one to walk on our state.
He thought he was in Indians.
And he was really in America.

Mick: Anything else?

Justin: Well, that was all.

Me:
Sarah, did you learn about Columbus at school?

Sarah:
There was a person...
but it was just a boat..
but...
there was another Mackenzie (name of a girl in her class at school)
and there was a boat
but this was the same person in Justin's school -
Captain Columbus!!!
