You can never really envision the future. You have no clue what your kids will end up liking or doing.
But when I see Justin and his continued lack of interest in sports and other activities, I really wonder what his thing will be. The only thing I ever can see him doing is something with music. He loves music. Always has. He is very good with remembering lyrics and carrying a tune. It's quite impressive to me.
But I still can never picture what he will do with it. He's too young to really know if he'll play an instrument. He says he wants to play piano, but it's hard to say if he will.
Whenever I ask him if he wants to join something like Tae Kwan Do, he says no. He says he's waiting to be older so he can join chorus. Oh course, by then, he will probably be like most boys and think it's not cool to be in chorus. Or, he'll be the odd man out and join anyway and be the lone boy amoung all the girls. Hard to say what he will want to do.
Tonight was the first time I envisioned him doing something. We brought the kids to see The Melodies of Christmas. And that I could picture. Singing or playing. Either one. But I can see him doing that in high school. Heck, why not? Mick played in the band. I love glee club. It's in his blood. Now, I'm not saying he'd be good enough to want to or be able to be in the NYS Youth Orchastra, but I can totally picture him in his high school band or chorus.
But only the future will tell....
Oh, and what do I see Sarah doing? As of now, I see her playing soccer.

Winter Wonderland
My favorite Christmas song. Always has been.
When Sarah was a baby, I would sing it to her when she started to cry. She would instantly stop crying and just listen. It worked every time. I probably did this for a couple years.
Fast forward and Sarah is now 4 1/2. Her favorite Christmas song? You got it - Winter Wonderland. She LOVES it! That just warms my heart!
Tonight we brought the kids to Melodies of Christmas for the first time and it was great that they played it. So special. She was so happy when she recognized it.

Today's tidbits....
Currently the kids are in the basement and Sarah is having a baby. Yup. That's right. Justin told Sarah to "put Chrishie under your tushie and scream while you push her out of your tush." Not your everyday play, but that is today's game.
Earlier today Sarah was sad and wanted to write a story about princesses "but I don't know what happens after they get married." lol I told her that sometimes they have babies. So her princess had a baby. Then "then what happens?" My answer " well, maybe they bring the kids on vacation." So the princess went with her prince and her babies to Maine and Mystic. What a lovely story.
At school today Justin got to go on the Limo Lunch to McDonalds. He had a ton of fun telling me all about it. But, at the end I was informed that he prefers to never go again b/c he missed recess. lmao
Today at the end of music, Ms Vici said "Wow, I can tell Sarah is quite the soccer player." They were playing with balls and since there are only 4 kids in the class they really got to move around. She told me all about how Sarah spent the whole time doing her soccer moves and would stop and do fancy moves with the ball. That's my girl! She does love her soccer. And she is pretty good at it for a 4 yr old. Too bad she is still getting yelled at by Ms Anne at Gymnastics. It stinks, but Ms Anne is just mean to her b/c she can't get the moves.
Yesterday when I picked Sarah up from school, Ms Reena told me that Sarah was upset b/c she couldn't find her coat. Ends up she was looking for one of her pink coats, instead of the purple coat she had worn that day. Ms Reena asked if it was new. Well, yes, it is the heavy winter one and with the warm weather it was only the 3rd time she had worn it. Anyway....I asked Sarah about it last night. I told her that I need to show her which coat she's wearing when she goes to school so that doesn't happen again. She looked so sad. "Mommy, it was so sad. I kept looking at everyone's pink coats and I couldn't find mine." What can I say - the girl loves her pink! Just so happens I ordered her a coat off of ebay that is a beautiful pink winter coat. How it fits and makes her happy. Her purple one is way too small and won't be fitting much longer anway.

Justin lost another tooth!
And again, I helped it come out.
This time it came out when I was brushing his teeth right before school. He had to go to school with tissues in his mouth. By the time we got there, the bleeding was finally slowing down. Now he's down to one real loose tooth. And he's so excited that he can eat on one side of his mouth now without pain!!!

That's my Girl!
I had Sarah all dressed for school in her Halloween shirt and pants. Adorable! But, on the way home from Justin's school she starts getting scared "They're scaring me. I can't loook at them." What? "Tha ghosts" What ghosts? "The ghosts on my pants?" OMG! Seriously? So, at home we change her pants. And, that's when she notices her shirt (that had been covered with her coat.) One big ghost on it. "Take it off. Too scary! It's big. It's the momma ghost!"
So, needless to say, I couldn't send her to school like that.

More soccer
So our soccer season ends next weekend. That's good since it is getting to be way too cold for outdoor soccer. But bad, cause the kids have been liking it a lot. I ended up getting them into Afrim's into the Soccer Tots program on Saturdays. When we started soccer practice, Sarah's coach assumed Sarah had been playing and asked me where she played. "Ummm...no where." When he called to tell me that the games were cancelled yesterday (lots of RAIN) he asked me what I was going to do for Sarah once the season ended. He really thought she should continue. It was good to hear. She's good, she likes it. Why not? I called the place yesterday and the guy there actually had us come down yesterday since our games were rained out. The kids loved it. It is all fun, skills building. Hopefully it will help with Justin's skills and coordination and with Sarah's skills. We'll see how it goes.
Justin - soccer time!
Go Sarah!
She had 4 goals today!
She pretty much scores a goal every goal, sometimes today. But she did great today. And it was special since she finally was playing at a different time than Justin so Mick finally got to watch Sarah play. So fun!
She scored 3 times for her team. And she played 1 quarter for the other team and scored for them 1 time. She would had scored twice for them, but one of her "teammates" blocked her goal right at the goal b/c he didn't know she was his teammate. lol

And how does one unwind after a good game? Well, with an organic lollipop and a lovey, of course!

Some cute pictures of Sarah during Justin's game:

Justin's prayers
Kids can be so amazing sometimes.
Last Friday Justin and I were talking before bedtime and he jumped up and went to his cross and prayed something like "Dear God, please help me to be superstar of the week. I haven't been superstar of the week yet and it looks like a lot of fun." I sort of tried to explain that we shouldn't always ask for things like that and blah, blah, blah.
Tonight I was asking him about how he got a feather check today. That means he did something extra good and got to eat lunch with his teacher. I was working recess today and when I got to the lunch, I was looking for him and was so confused b/c I couldn't see him anywhere. A few minutes later, he shows up behind me with his teacher and they told me about it. So tonight I asked him more. And he told me that he was the only one at his table paying attention and having eye contact and something like that. Not really sure. Anyway he did great with his reading at that point and she gave him a feather check. So he ate lunch with her and then she brought him down so he could go out for recess.
So, tonight as we talked about it he told me that if someone gets a feather check, they do something really good like ____ or ____ and sometimes they are superstar of the week. Then he stopped, jumped out of bed, ran to his cross and said "I totally forgot. Connor said I will never get to be superstar of the week." To which I was upset of course, thinking, How dare he say that. But, what Justin really meant was that Connor said it about himself. He continued "So I told him I would pray for him." Then he prayed "Dear God, please help Connor to be superstar of the week. He thinks he will never get to be superstar and you can help him" or something along those lines.
And he never once mentioned that maybe he would be superstar this week or worried or hoped for himself. Very cool!

Sarah's said of things
Just some funny things Sarah said yesterday.
We were in the backyard on the swings and I was trying to figure out how to talk to her about Stranger Danger. I said something like "And do you know what some of those bad people use when they try to steal kids?" Her answer "Nets." LMAO Ummm...no...I was trying to teach her about candy and toys. Oh boy. Nets. Too funny.
Sarah has 2 stuffed Owls that she LOVES, both named Hootie. So, at bedtime last night I was tucking her in and said something to her about playing, blah, blah. I have no clue what exactly I said. But her answer was "No, I just like to play with my Hooties." LMAO Again, just too funny.
Love my babe!

Soccer Time!
Today the kids had their first games of the season. They played at the same time (as they will almost every time), 4 fields apart, so Mick and I split time b/w watching both kids.
Justin was much more into it this year. He paid attention and wasn't afraid to get into the mix. And he had fun.

And Sarah. Well, let's just Sarah that Sarah really likes going after the ball. She was in the middle of the action constantly. She was at the bottom of a pile of player several times. Ahe would steal the ball and just go with it even when the game was not happening. She loved it. But, she was very sad towards the end and told me "I can't always steal the ball. I keep trying, but it doesn't always work." Poor kid is so competitive. Hopefully this helps to stop some of that cause it is very annoying.

And yes, that is her with her arm around that boy trying to hold him back. So stinkin funny. I love that her soccer personality is so opposite from her normal personality with a bunch of kids. Hilarious!

Another Lost Tooth!
And what a story!
It was bedtime and Justin had just finished going potty. I went into the bathroom and was taking off his shirt. All of a sudden he started SCREAMING (meanwhile Sarah was already sleeping- yikes!) "Where's my tooth! You pulled out my tooth!" I had no clue what he was even talking about, but sure enough there was tons of blood coming out of his mouth. I looked everywhere for the tooth, couldn't find. Tried shaking out his shirt, looking in the potty. Nothing. Crud. Justin's still screaming and he's freaking b/c of all the bloood. Mick comes in and blames me for pulling out his tooth since Justin said that. I DID NOT PULL OUT HIS TOOTH! It had been hanging on crooked for weeks on and must have gotten cuaght on his shirt and out it came! Well, I went on duty of stopping the blood while Mick went and found the tooth on the floor.
Not the way we thought it would go down, but it is out. That makes Tooth #4. And tooth #5 is even looser than this one was. But it is wedged in so it's staying put longer. This one had been all on it's own. Actually for the past 3 weeks or so I would just watch this tooth every time he talked to me and I would giggle. I felt bad, but I couldn't help it. It was so funny, hanging off to the side.
Before:

And After:
(It was bedtime so I wrote the note instead of keeping him up later. lol)

Oh, and he was SO upset that he couldn't run in and tell Sarah but she was already asleep. But he will want to wake her early. Yikes.
Of course, now I LOVE listening to him talk with his new lisp. SO CUTE!!!! I definitely need to take some video of it.

Sarah's Open House
It wasn't really her first day, but it was fun. She went to school with me for her open house this morning. It was just a 1/2 hour, from 9:30-10, but she had a BLAST playing and playing and playing. I was glad to see that she will not only be with Lexi again, but also with Emmy and Ava. That should help her if was gonna have any transition issues, although I don't think she was going to. This year she has Ms Reena. I was sad to see that Ms Robin isn't there on Weds this year though.
Here's my baby this morning:

My First Grader
My boy started First Grade today and he loved it! He loved recess in the park instead of in the kindergarten pen. He loved it all. But his favorite part was keeping his cubes and filling up the buddy bucket or whatever the reward thing is called. So funny!

Sarah, meanwhile, spent the day sobbing that her day was awful because she didin't start school yet!
Oh, and a Justin funny. Wehn we got to school, Mrs Chmiel was in the lobby greteing the kids with Mrs R and Mrs Gervais. She made a fuss over Justin and he ran right up to her and asked "Are you going to be here next year?" (As if it's her decision only. Ackward!!) "Because Sarah really wants to have you next year for Kindergarten!" So funny!

Young attraction
Just overheard from my living room:
Justin: I love Tinkerbell (the movie.) I don't know why. I think it's something about one of the girl's dresses.

And he swims!!
We made him ditch the lifejacket swimsuit about 4 days ago. And he is doing great. He's swimming. He's jumping in the pool. He's swimming under water. He's no longer afraid to put his head under water. I am so proud. I actually cried yesterday while watching him.
Meanwhile Sarah is doing great with her lifejacket. She is like a little fish now. It is so fun to watch now.
