Thanksgiving

I know we all had a great Thanksgiving. It was nice, relaxing, peaceful and just a really pleasant day.

Seriously. He is too nice.

So Thanksgiving started off with Justin losing his tooth. So, of course the tooth fairy came last night. This morning Justin found 2 $1 bills under his pillow. What did he do? He gave one to Sarah.

I love this boy!

Turkey, Turkeys, Turkeys

In our house these days, there are turkeys EVERYWHERE!!!

Heartbroken Justin

To set the scene:
It was bedtime and Sarah was on Benadryl and very tired.

Justin was in his room and he made a handprint turkey picture specifically for Sarah. He brought it into her and she said "I don't want it." I couldn't convince her to keep the picture in his room. Justin was so sad. He went back to his room and was crying. That someone ripped out my heart crying. "But why doesn't she want my picture? I made it just for her." Poor kid. I calmed him down a little by telling him to write "to Grammy and Grampy" on it and that we could give it to them on Thanksgiving.

I am was so sad.

I was mad at Sarah although she was doing the same thing Justin has done to her many times.

I was heartbroken for Justin.

The second child

Being the second child obviously has advantages and disadvantages. One of the very cool advantages is showing a lot right now. Being only 2 years younger, Sarah is close enough in age to Justin to just soak up tons of knowledge. She knows all her letters and most of her lower case letters. She knows her numbers. She knows lots of kindergarten stuff. She is starting to write letters. She writes some "A"s and "V"s. Now she's making her "A"s upside down though which is very funny. And then this morning, while Justin was going to the bathroom before school, Sarah was in the kitchen using his letter book. She traced all the letters and did it very well. Crazy!

Justin and his weird day

I still have no clue what actually happened.

Justin complained before school this morning that his belly hurt. He went to the bathroom right before we left and that helped a little.

I went to work recess and lunch. As soon as I got there, one of the girls in the class came up and told me that Justin's belly hurts. What? Then Jack told me the same thing. Justin was at his cubby looking like he was in pain. Mrs Chmiel knew nothing about it. I took him to recess figuring he'd be fine there. Wrong. It was an agonizing 20 minutes. He wouldn't even play with Jack. He sat near him only when I had to leave him. He held my leg most of the time complained that his belly hurt. So I took him home after recess.

We got home and he layed down on the couch. He had some toast and saltines. About 20 minutes later he was up and running around. And he wanted to go back to school. He didn't want to miss centers which are his favorite part of the day.

So I got him redressed and brought him back. Mrs Chmiel was obviously surprised to see him back. We told her he wanted to come back for centers, in case they did centers. She was like , uh oh, "I wasn't planning on doing centers today. But we'll do other fun stuff." So he went back to class.

He wanted to be a walker today so we picked him up. He told me that Mrs Chmiel wanted me to know that she did end up doing 4 quick centers after all. That was so very nice of her!!! She's a great teacher.

Oh, and he was fine all night. No clue what happened.

Night #4

Wow. She never even mentioned the binky tonight.

Amazing!!

And her lip is definitely starting to look better.

"You are so beautiful!"

Poor kid. He wasn't too happy today. After his bad night last night, he woke up today to no tv rights. He actually complained a LOT LESS than I thought he would. Once he understood and stopped complaining this morning, he didn't complain again until tonight when he realized he couldn't watch Kyrpo the Superdog.

See, now Justin, that is the whole point.
We set the rules.
Follow the rules or you lose stuff.
You have yourself to blame.

And then he was very upset when he realized there was no runaround with Daddy tonight.

Again, the point Justin.
I think he was starting to catch on that we were serious.

Tonight he went to bed and stayed up to draw. He followed the rules and never called us. But we heard him talking a lot.

"I love you!
You are so beautiful!
My, you are just so beautiful!
You are the most beautiful thing ever!"

Yeah, we knew he was doing this to get our attention, but it was so freakin cute we couldn't resist. And it was so cute!!

Sleep....

I probably helps that Sarah is currently getting benadryl at night for he horrible cold. Well, yes, I know it helps. She was almost asleep on the couch watching her nighttime show and Daddy had to carry her upstairs. She was so tired...

Anyway, she was mad about not having her binky tonight. No, that's not right. She was actually just very sad. Complained while getting ready for bed, but no real crying. Poor kid. But I do think her rash is getting better.

And, again, she slept throught he night last night without ever waking up crying for her binky.

Tonight...not so well

She is pissed. Very, very pissed. She wants her binky. She seems to finally be calming down a little now. Soft crying if anything. But we had lots of crying and lots of screaming. I hope she gets through the night without much drama. She did so well last night. She never woke up asking for it at all. We'll see... but there's no going back now.

Bedtime blues

I am trying so hard to get Justin to fall asleep at night without calling us 10 times over 2 hours. He is driving us insane. I am trying.

Tonight was a little better.

I let him stay up a little later than Sarah and I let him draw and helped him spell a little. When he went to bed, he called just twice. Once to ask for his costume box back. (I had taken it away last night during the bedtime fighting.) Then he called again 15 minutes later. I went in and gave him a strike and took away his tv privledges for tomorrow. (He can watch tv but it will be Sarah's choice each time.) Then he told me why he called me. He was scared by a cob web hanging from his ceiling. He asked if he still lost his tv rights. Tough one, huh? I told him that if he behaved great the rest of the night I might erase his mark the same way Mrs Chmiel does for good behaivor. So tough. I want to prove my point, but I can also understand why he called. Ugh!

Why can't the kid just sleep at night?

When I listened in on him - he was wide awake. His eyes were WIDE open. And he was talking to himself. "Why does she always punish me at night? This is so boring!"

Being a parent can really be tough at times.

Bye Bye Binky!

We are now a binky free house. I can't believe it!

We finally agreed to take away her binky to try to heal the rash above her lip. The binky fairy brought a doll for her before bed. It was a baby Ariel dolly that she almost picked when she got her doll for ditching her pull ups. She loved it! She never whimpered. She never complained. She never cried. Wow!

I am still nervous how she'll react in the middle of the night though.

It is difficult to see her well on the video monitor. For some reason we can never see much more than fuzz on her monitor while we see clear as can be in Justin's monitor. Sucks. Anyway, I watched and she was holding Ariel's hand. So cute.

She's definitely no Michelle Tanner

(from Full House, from those of you not familiar with the show. lol)

I was driving home with Sarah from preschool today and something prompted me to say "You got it Dude!" to her.

Of course, Sarah's reaction was "I'm no dude!!!!"

LMAO

If you spend a lot of time with Sarah, you learn that she will only allow you to call her by her nicknames. Anything else will prompt her to yell "I am NOT _______!!!" And she'll cry until you take it back.

Speaking of nicknames, they are currently:
Beary Boo
Beary
Boo Bits
Lou
Lizzie
Lizzie Lou
Boo to the Bits to the Bits to the Bittle, better than a cute, cute, kitten kaniddle
Boo to the Bits to the Bits to the Bittle, I love her a lot, more than a little (it's makes no sense. I am aware.)
Sarey Beary
Boo Boo
Bitsy Boo
Lou Lou
Bear
Saratoga Girly Girly

And I am sure there is more. I am always calling her by one of her nicknames.
I think the ones I use the most are:
Lou Lou
Lizzy
Lizzy Lou
Beary

Our long evening

Sarah & I ended up at the ER again last night. She fell off the couch and got cut. Her forehead had a big hole in it. We waited more than 2 hours before being seen. All they had to do was glue it. So, 3 hours and $50 later, she is all better. So not fun! But, I will say, she was super well behaved!

Politics and a 5 yr old

Justin took place in a school vote for the president yesterday. McCain won for the school. Justin voted for McCain. I am not sure why. I know Ian voted for McCain b/c he had white skin. No, not b/c he wasn't voting for Obama and his skin. He was impressed with McCain's "white" skin. He said he had never seen a white person person. Apparently, McCain is very pale in Ian's eyes. So funny.

Anyway, this morning Justin woke up when Mick & I were watching Obama's speech on tv. We told Justin that this was our next president - Barack Obama.

Justin's reaction -
Oh good. Now McCain doesn't have to choose everyday whether to work at school or for our state.

LMAO
