Who would have thought it?
Apparently Justin started something when he asked to do a reading for First Communion. (And, yes, he voluntered. I found out later that he did so b/c he knew that he was very scared to do it and that doing it might help him get over being scared. Yeha Justin!!!! So proud!)
So, Justin read a petition for First Communion. And he did awesome!!!
Then Sarah read one for the Kondergarten mass in June. Oh my --- so proud! Just turned 6 and she did awesome! Nice and slow and you could easily hear every word she said!
Then Justin voluntered again for the last mass on the year. He was so excited b/c this time he got to stand on the altar like Sarah did. And he got to receive Communion on the altar. I was so proud. Again, he did so good!!!

Justin update
And wow - Just wow!
Justin graduated from Vision therapy in early June, after 8 months of treatment. But he was still struggling a lot with his reading. I started the phonics program that Dr Fox recommended, and about 6 weeks later his reading is just taking off. I cannot believe the difference. Not only can he decode a lot better now, he is doing pretty good at decoding large words, and he's now reading longer books, with font that is spaced closer together. And he's doing well with it. I am shocked. And so happy. He has made me cry happy tears so many times these past few months!

Some big firsts going on around here
Justin ...
Justin became a deep end swimmer! I am still in shock myself, but he finally stopped thinking that he was going to sink if I let go of him and he learned to tread water. He loves it!
Sarah ...
on July 4th, she rold ethe Carousel by herself for the first time ever! We were at Hoffmans and instead of having me hold onto her, as she usually wanted, she agreed to let me sit next to her. (We had gone a couple weeks before that and I stood next to her and proved to her that I wasn't holding her anymore and that she could hold on by herself.) After one trip around with me on the horse next to her, she had me stand outside and she rode by herself!!!

The Butt?
So this how how I was told the story....
Mick:
You know Nancy, the kindergarten teacher? Well, her son is in kindergarten and the class in going to be learning about the body. The teacher was talking about what they were going to learn and her son raised his hand and asked "Are we going to learn about the butt?"
Mick to me:
Do you think that's embarrassing?
Me:
No, not really. More funny than embarrassing.
Mick:
Good, cause it was your daughter that said it!!!

Little Miss Confident!
When did this happen?
When did Sarah become so confident?
Where did my shy and scared little girl go?
It is just crazy to watch her sometimes.
At school, she is is sure of herself and always wants to answer the questions and volunteer to do things. She never minds being the center of attention.
At music, she is full of life, dances and dances, and sings very loudly.
And now she actually tried out for the shool talent show. She didn't coordinate anything, but she just got up and danced. No music, no singing, just her favorite 5 yr old dancing, which includes her break dancing.
Talk about confidence!
I am so proud of her!
